Team USA… not as we would like it to be.

Posted on July 6, 2012

No matter what happens, team USA will be a contender for the olympic basketball championship in London 2012. It’s easy to see why. The NBA is the most important basketball league in the world, and most of its stars are from the US. This gives us an idea of how the olympic team can look like.

It can look like an All Star team with the little difference that they will actually play deffense. Don’t be surprised if the final is Spain vs USA (Not that anyone would be surprised). There’s just a little… well a lot of little problems.

Injuries. They are always part of the game and if you hoped to see a complete roster in this summer olympics, maybe you’ll have to wait another 4 years. Some of the most important players who won’t be there are:

  • Dwight Howard. He had a back surgery and he isn’t ready to play. Nobody is even sure if he’ll come back at an olympic level.
  • Chris Bosh. In the 2nd round of the playoffs he had an abdominal strain, and even though he played the rest of the playoffs through it, he will rest this summer.
  • LaMarcus Aldridge. He went through hip surgery after the regular season and he doesn’t feel like risking his health so soon.
  • Dwyane Wade. He got injured in the conference finals against Boston, and had his knee drained. Now, he’ll have time for surgery and he even said he will use that time to correct his shot.
  • Derrick Rose. We all saw how the Bulls were torn down after Rose getting injured (once again) against Philadelphia. He will go through knee surgery too, and hopefully he will be back in the NBA in January 2013.
  • Chauncy Billups. Not that he would play a lot but he is injured too. his left Achiles tendon injury won’t let him play.

Chris Paul had a thumb injury in practices at the USA camp, but nothing to worry. Now let’s just see who else will complete the Roster of the Olympic games.
